Army Vet Willie J. Parker, 79, Dies
Funeral Services were conducted Monday from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Tommy Akin officiating.
Willie J. Parker, 79 of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, March 16. He was born Aug. 20, 1933 in Jefferson, GA., the son of the late Willie Stevens Parker and the late Mae Towe Parker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a Private First Class. He married Phyllis Burline Phillips on Dec. 23, 1960 in Ft. Valley, GA. He was a business owner having owned and operated several convenient stores in the area. He enjoyed fishing and sports.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Burline Phillips Parker on Nov. 22, 2003; daughter, Deborah Daugherty and brother, C.W. Parker; grandchild, Stephanie Hampton. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sybil and Cullen Clark of Lithia Springs and Sharon Clayton of Perry; sons and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Melissa Parker of Villa Rica, Steven Tracy Parker of Douglasville, and Walter Marcus Walker of Alabama; brothers and sister-in-law, Roy and Rachel Parker of Barnesville and Harold Parker of Forsyth; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were conducted Monday from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Tommy Akin officiating. Interment followed at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs.
