Air Force Vet, DCHS Grad, Hal J. Murphy, 63, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for his gathering on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m.

 

Hal J. Murphy, 63 of Lithia Springs, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28. He was born Sept. 8, 1949 in Atlanta.

Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Douglas High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from CSX Railroad with 22 years of service and was presently a valued employee with Greystone Power Corporation for the past 24 years. He enjoyed gold prospecting, model trains, and fishing but most of all loved the outdoors, working with his hands, and was a member of the N.R.A. for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levern Stennett Murphy and Ota Mae Bates Murphy, and sister, Betty Cosper.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye Murphy; sons, Randy Murphy and Eric Murphy of Lithia Springs, GA; granddaughter, Brittany Murphy; brother, Andrew ‘Sonny’ Murphy of GA; sisters, Helen Lee and husband Robert of Paulding Co. GA, Linda Widincamp and husband Frank of Shellman Bluff, GA; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for his gathering on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m.
