Air Force Vet, David Lonnie Eley Dies

David Lonnie Eley, Jr., 77 of Douglasville, passed away Thursday, May 24, at Presbyterian Village following an extended illness. He was born April 27, 1935 in Austell, the son of the late David Lonnie Eley, Sr. and the late Mamie Hardy Eley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He married Doris J. Hayes on Feb. 27, 1960. He retired from Flint Ink and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Casswell.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Doris J. Hayes Eley of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, David Paul and Tammy Eley of Dawsonville and Dennis Jay and Sherri Eley of Douglasville; four grandchildren, Brandi Eley-Green and her husband, Sean Green, Jordan Eley, Jay Eley, and Emily Eley; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Green and Lucy Green.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Virgil Barnard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville with the following serving as pallbearers: Jay Eley, Eric Dutton, Wes Taylor, Todd Williams, Stan Williams and Ben Ballew.
