A Christmas Adoption Story

Maggie Mae James is one of the hundreds of success stories of adoptions this year from the Douglas County Animal Shelter.

“My name is Maggie Mae James. I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you ‘thank you’ for taking such good care of me for the few days that I was with you. I am getting along very well with my new family. I have a Dad–they call him Grandpa, a Mom who they call Red Nanny for some reason, and an 11-year-old boy who is Jakob. I have been very good–no accidents on the floor at all–and they really love me already. I get to sit on the couch, and have three different laps to choose from. I am welcome in all of them any time that I want to get there. I try to spread myself around so that everyone gets to pet me. I get brushed a lot. I get to sleep in Grandpa and Red Nanny’s bed at night. They all take me outside for walks. I have my own bed now and my own blankets. I have a new leash and lots of treats and chewy bones. I don’t know what I will be getting from Santa, but I am thinking it might be some toys. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and I hope that all my friends get adopted soon.”
