94 Pets Adopted During 'Home for Christmas'
The campaign, held at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, was a success. Thank you to all who sponsored, volunteered and embraced this program.
Thank you to all who decided to participate in a worth while cause to help promote the shelter animals and find them a home. A special thank you to Helping Prevent Homeless Pets (Shannon Frazier Edinger), Rebekah Mattox, Larry Wade, Lisa Levesque, Carl Pyrdum and Donna Veatel all of Douglas County who stepped in to sponsor animals during this campaign. On behalf of Douglas County Animal Shelter, Tim Hussey also sponsored animals during this time period. In addition, Douglas County citizens, co-workers and family members of the above stepped up to participate.
The campaign started on Dec. 20, 2011 and ran through Dec. 31, 2011. With work from volunteers and shelter staff during this time period the program was a success. During that two week time period there were 94 adoptions and 19 rescues from our local animal shelter.
Many of these animals were promoted on facebook via Animal-Advocate Georgia, DouglasCounty Animal Friends and Douglasville Patch plus shared by many that visit all of these sites. A number of people who came to the shelter during the campaign stated that they found out about the animals via facebook. Promoting our animals is a crucial part of finding them homes.
With continued efforts we as citizens can help make a difference in the lives of these animals. Sponsorship campaigns like these work as is evident by the number of animals who left the shelter during this brief time. Thank you to all who sponsored, volunteered and embraced this program...it was a success. All these animals have been given a chance for a wonderful new life.
Please visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter to find your forever friend who is waiting to give you unconditional love and joy. Any of the animals that were sponsored yet not adopted, during the campaign still have their $25 adoption sponsorship in place and are noted with a bright blue or bright green sticker.
Stay tuned as there are other type campaigns like this in the work's for 2012.
