94 Pets Adopted During 'Home for Christmas'

The campaign, held at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, was a success. Thank you to all who sponsored, volunteered and embraced this program.

Thank you to all who decided to participate in a worth while cause to help promote the shelter animals and find them a home. A special thank you to Helping Prevent Homeless Pets (Shannon Frazier Edinger), Rebekah Mattox, Larry Wade, Lisa Levesque, Carl Pyrdum and Donna Veatel all of Douglas County who stepped in to sponsor animals during this campaign. On behalf of , Tim Hussey also sponsored animals during this time period. In addition, Douglas County citizens, co-workers and family members of the above stepped up to participate.

The campaign started on Dec. 20, 2011 and ran through Dec. 31, 2011. With work from volunteers and shelter staff during this time period the program was a success. During that two week time period there were 94 adoptions and 19 rescues from our local animal shelter.

Many of these animals were promoted on facebook via Animal-Advocate Georgia, DouglasCounty Animal Friends and Douglasville Patch plus shared by many that visit all of these sites. A number of people who came to the shelter during the campaign stated that they found out about the animals via facebook. Promoting our animals is a crucial part of finding them homes.
