1 in Coma, 3 Arrested After Villa Rica Bar Fight

Three men have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery after a bar fight that put a man in a chemically induced coma to be treated for his head injuries, according to a report from the Villa Rica Police Department.

Chase Mayfield, 21 of Villa Rica, suffered a severe head injury, during a fight on April 12 at Stix Bar & Grill and remains in a coma. lvin Eugene Norris, 36 of Villa Rica; Gregory George Rainwater, 34 of Winston; and Michael Ray Baldwin, 37 of Dallas have all been charged with aggravated assault and battery and are being held at the Carroll County Jail.

Villa Rica Police responded to a fight in proress at at the bar and found Mayfield had been injured. Due to conflicting statements at the scene, no arrests were made at that time.

The injuries to Mayfield were later discovered to be more severe than first believed and he was transferred to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. The doctors placed Mayfield in a chemically induced coma as they treated him for the head injuries.

Detectives continued to investigate the incident throughtout the day. Additional witnesses were identified and interviewed. Arrest warrants were obtained during the evening hours and the three suspects in the case were arrested.
