Update: 2 Dead, 15 Injured at Thornton Rd. Accident
Two women died in the crash; a passenger died on impact and the driver at the hospital.
Update at 4:42 p.m.
Police said based on witness statements, the tractor-trailer had run a red light just before running into the Sentra, WSB reported. A total of six vehicles were involved in the wreck.
An accident shortly ago at the intersection of Thornton and Blairs Bridge Roads resulted in one fatality, 10 patients being treated at the accident scene and five being transported to Atlanta’s Grady Hospital, one by air - two children, three adults.
The injuries of the transported patients are considered to be serious, according to Wes Tallon, director of communications for Douglas County.
The remaining five are stable on scene and are being evaluated for possible transport.
Thornton Rd. will be blocked for a few hours.
A total of 35 units responded to the accident, including Douglas County Fire/EMS, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, City of Douglasville Police, Cobb County, City of Austell, and Georgia State Patrol.
