James “Leonard” Landers, age 66 of Dallas, GA, passed away February 21, 2011. He was born September 21, 1944 in Atlanta, to the late John and Patsy Catherine Maley Landers.
He worked as a diesel mechanic and later a truck driver, for the Bowman Transportation Co., for 20 years and the Old Dominion Freight Co. for 10 years. He was Baptist by faith, and attended the New Hope Baptist Church of Dallas.
In addition to his parents, John Landers and Patsy Catherine Maley Landers, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Diane Dean, brother, Michael Landers and brother, Melvin Landers.
Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Imogene ‘Jean’ Kay Anderson Landers, of Dallas, GA; sisters: Helen Spain of Tuscaloosa, AL and Cathy Barden of Carrollton, GA; Aunt and Uncle, Tommy and Jo Ann Maley of Paulding Co.; nieces and nephews; Stephanie Sellers, Nick Sellers, Wendy Landers, Melvin Landers, Timmy Landers, John Landers, Shannon Spain, Michelle Marshall, Mark Herring, Steve Marshall, Ross Marshall, John Gregory Marshall and Mike Herring, and numerous cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Christopher Anderson officiating and Beverly Ivie, rendering the eulogy. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 5, Blue Ridge, GA, with Ross Marshall, Greg Marshall, Steve Marshall, Creed Bodiford, Raymond Ivie, Carl Ivie, Arvel Ivie, Ernie Ivie, Mark Herring, and Mike Herring serving as Pallbearers. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Hoyt Anderson and Jimmy Goodman.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
